What is a DVI Splitter

A DVI splitter can be defined as an amplifier that allows sending video signals to multiple devices at the same time. In other words, with the help of a DVI splitter, you can connect a single DVI video input and have multiple video displays. You can even use daisy chain system or cascade this types of video splitters to increase the number of video displays.
In general, you can transmit video signals to about eight different display units from a single computer. To increase this number of displays, you will have to cascade the video splitters. But the transmission in such cases can be limited to a specified distance. To enable the transmission of video signals to larger distances, you will be required to use the DVI extenders with STP/UPT cables. These DVI splitters are also referred to as DVI distribution amplifiers and are used to reproduce digital video signals at a high resolution. The image resolution can be as high as 1920 x 1200 and the signals can be transmitted at the rate of 60Hz. The use of DVI distribution amplifiers does not distort the images.
The DVI distribution amplifiers and extenders are easy to install. They usually come with plug and play functionality. The users are just required to connect a DVI video source to a splitter. The output of this video splitter must be connected to the video displays. The biggest advantage of using a DVI splitter is that it uses a single source to send signals to multiple destinations.
