Graphics is something that is of considerable importance in the world of entertainment in general and gaming in particular. As technology advances and hardware and software reach new heights, what the users and marketers see is whether they are able to provide high graphics like never before and make the world created in the game, or for that matter, any other mode like movies and stuff, real enough.
Hence, most of the modern gaming consoles and compact gadgets, along with the hardware created for the gamers on personal computer are all mostly priced and valued based on their ability to provide graphics of the highest and more exotic level possible. The measurement tape is the difference between the imagination and reality. In fact, today users and makers equally enough consider games to be more interesting than reality.
However, there is constant study of this reason for higher graphics and its influence on the success of a game. For example, it is widely accepted that a game with mind blowing graphics and with not proper content or nice story will surely not make it to the top or even average sales. However, at the same time, the lack of graphics in a game with a mind blowing concept can turn off consumers to some level.
Hence, there should always be a proper balance between the graphics prowess and the content of a game. In fact, there is no reason to think that a maker should be happy with an average story and graphics as long as both are balanced. The more the better.
